I am doing a little research and want to know what everyone's favorite FPS loadouts are and why. Just drop a post listing any FPS game you care to list, that uses a loadout system of course, and describe your favorite loadout and why.

Here is an example:

MAG
12 Gauge Pump
Hollis MP
Medical Kit (advanced)
M67 Frag Grenade
Acoustic Locator
Fiber Mesh Armor

I like being the commando class, with the light armor, stealth, and speed the close range weapons are perfect. First Aid is thrown in as I tend to make a good medic with the higher speed and stealth.

Modern Warfare 2
ACR Silenced with Heartbeat
Akimbo G14 Silenced
Smoke Grenade
Tactical Insertion

When combined with a good stealth perk set, this is a perfect combination. The ACR is deadly accurate, and the G14s are perfect for close range multi-kills. Heartbeat is good for finding the kill and the tactical insertion ensures the revenge if killed.

So there ya go. Thanks!

Way back when DOOM and Wolf 3D were king, Bungie was owning them without anyone knowing it. Due tot the game series macintosh exclusivity (save for an under-marketed sequel), no one really paid attention to the work of art that is Marathon.

It was the first 1st person shooter to offer a world system that could have rooms above other rooms, liquids with different properties and angled geometry. Bungie included a map editor and physics editor with the 1st and 3rd Marathon games, allowing a huge community of modders to be born instantly upon the games release.

Not to mention all of the amazing achievements Marathon pioneered that didn't add to the creative gaming equation: Dual wielding, radar, reloading and ammo management, secondary fire modes, friendly AI partners, Developing storyline that occurred via in-game setups called terminals (As close to a cutscene as could be in that day & age). There are more but I am having trouble remembering because it is too awesome to give a full account.

You can now emulate the bungie-authorized open source trilogy to both Mac OSX and XP using Aleph One, a community-built engine. It adds online play and ups the graphics engine and control setups, among other things.

Sadly it is rather difficult to get a working map and physics model editor on any platform past a Mac running the aging OS 9.
